FORT SMITH, ARKANSAS WEDDING

Jesse C. Harper and Miss Salina Rhyne were married in 1862 at the residence of her uncle, Mr. J. R. A. Hendry, by Rev. Mr. Sam;ple, pastor of the First Presbyterian church. Miss Mollie Clark (Mrs. John Wren), was to be the only attendant, but when she came to the wedding she was accompanied by her sister, Miss Emma Clark, a deaf mute. Miss Emma decided she would like to be a bridesmaid also and asked permission to return home to dress up for the occasion. It was near midnight when the marriage vows were read.
